Let me tell you if you´re planning to visit the paradise country of the Philippines and Boracay is not on your list… what are you waiting for? Absolutely, this is one of the places you must go. I´ll share with you some tips on what to do in Boracay. Join me to relive the 4 days we spent in Boracay and you will surely love it.

First of all, where is Boracay?

Boracay is a small and tropical island located in the Occidental Visayas of the Philippines, in Malay, Aklan´s province. This place turned so popular because it has fabulous beaches with crystal and clear water, ideal for a great and relaxing vacation.

How to go to Boracay? Where to stay in Boracay?

The simplest and quickest way to go there is by flying on a plane. You have some options like going by the Cebu Pacific Company, Philippine Airlines, or Air Asia. In our case, we fly to Boracay from Cebu City choosing Cebu Pacific. This last one is cheaper, has direct flights and it´s the most used company by the Filipinos. Later I will explain where to go in Boracay.

What to do in Boracay?

From Manila, the estimated time of a direct flight is between 1h 10 min and 1h 25min and you usually have multiple options to fly to Caticlan´s Airport.

From Mactan Cebu International Airport of Cebu City, the estimated time of a direct flight is only 1h.

Firstly, once at Caticlan´s Airport, you take a tricycle going to Caticlan´s Port. There, some people will check your booking in one of the accredited hotels and resorts of Boracay, to let you continue the trip.

I forgot, to enter Boracay, you need to have a reservation in one of the accredited accommodation establishments by the Department of Tourism of the Philippines.

Tourists without prior bookings with accredited hotels may be denied entry to the island. For a list of accredited establishments, you can visit the Department of Tourism’s site.

What to do in Boracay – Day 1

Reaching Caticlan´s airport
me and my filipino wife reaching caticlan airport
Hello Caticlan!

We choose to fly to Boracay early in the afternoon because we want to rest more in Cebu and enjoy a good breakfast with her family.

Firstly, outside the airport, we paid for the tricycle going to the Port. There, we wait in line, and secondly, we show our reservation at one of the accredited accommodation establishments. Thirdly, we paid the boat tickets (30 PHP each) + terminal fee (100 PHP each) + environmental fee ( 75 PHP each). Finally, we headed to the ferry to go to Boracay Island.

After less than 15 minutes, we reached Boracay Island, and let me tell you…it´s an amazing place!

As soon as we arrived, we saw very happy children jumping into the water and a long line of tourists waiting for the jeeps to go to the hotels.

Once in the “El Puerto Boracay” hotel, at 16:15h, we leave our things in the room to go for a walk on the beach and we noticed a lot of souvenir stores and an amazing view.

At night, we decided to go to Boracay´s main open-air mall, called D´mall. At the moment we went there, we were so shocked because was really so crowded, but even that, was so enjoyable.

We had a very romantic dinner is The Hobbit Tabern, a restaurant in D´mall we recommend so much. Everything was perfect there, and really the people who work there look like Hobbits because they are so small. We ate a very delicious pizza, accompanied by a watermelon shake and fries. I’m always asking myself…where to live in Boracay?

What to do in Boracay – Our Day 2. Where to stay in Boracay

To start the second day, we take advantage of the hotel’s free breakfast, and then, we walked a pair of blocks to the white beach. I need to advise you that a lot of sellers will approach you by offering different things. Some of them will say to you about the different activities you can do. Where to live in Boracay?

So, if you are thinking…what to do in Boracay? let me write some of them: snorkeling, visiting crocodile island, yacht, massage and relaxing, enjoying the different beaches, banana boat, zipline, helmet diving, paddleboard, parasailing, going to a party, and more!

We spend this day in paradise relaxing on the beach, going to the D´mall, eating outside, and enjoying the sunset.

Our Day 3

For the third day, we recommend you relax and swim at the beach all day. Firstly, it is a good idea to pass some time in White Beach some hours in the morning, and discover other fabulous beaches after some brunch.

We went to different beaches on our third day in this paradise, and we fell in love with three of them: Diniwid Beach, Puka Shell Beach, and the main one and most visited White Beach.

For us, the best beach in Boracay is Diniwid Beach. We recommend going there for more than 3 hours and going back if it´s possible. The best way to go to these beaches is on a tricycle. Just go to the main road, Boracay Hwy Central, and stop by a tricycle to go there.

At night, after dinner, we recommend you to go to some club to have fun and socialize or just go for a massage.

Our Day 4

On this last day, we just relax and swim at White beach in the morning. We went again to the D´mall and we discovered the amazing mango ice cream at Halomango´s Store. If you to go to Boracay, absolutely you need to eat in Halomango! Where to live in Boracay?
