When to go to the stunning Kalanggaman?
The Philippines is a tropical country, so it has 2 seasons. The wet and rainy season starts in June and finishes in November and the dry season starts the last days of November and ends in May. So, the best moment to visit Kalanggaman is in the dry season, we recommend especially in February or March because is so beautiful and all looks perfect.
To enjoy and take some great pics of the sandbar, the best option is to go early in the morning, but not so early, like 8 am. Take in mind that the low tide is not always at the same time but when the tide is low, you can appreciate the entire sandbar.
How to go to Kalanggaman?
From Manila, you need to buy a ticket to fly to Cebu Airport or to Ormoc or Tacloban City. To make it possible, you can choose between some of these airlines: Cebu Pacific, AirAsia, or Philippine Airlines.
Once in Cebu City or Leyte, you need to find a way to go to Palompon. From Cebu, Cokaliong is a good option to go straight to Palompon´s Port and the ticket fee is around 400-500 PHP. If you want to go to Ormoc city from Cebu, you can travel by Supercat or Oceanjet.
From Ormoc, you need to take a van or a bus, near the Ormoc City Park, and travel approximately 1h 30 min to reach Palompon.
In Palompon, the next step is to register and pay at the Office of the Eco-Tourism.
It´s also possible to reach Kalanggaman Island from Malapascua Island. In that case, you need to travel on a boat for a bit more than 1h 30 min. You will usually leave Malapascua Island around 9 am and go back to the island around 4 pm.
Boats leaving Malapascua Island to Kalanggaman usually carry 30 people or more. If you travel with a group of people, it may be more convenient to hire a private boat to go there.
